Hi!
I work on a transport team for a hospital. My job is to go out to surrounding hospitals and retrieve newly born infants that are ill and need speciality care.
The equipment we use is contained on a metal framed cart. We have an isolette to place the baby in, a transport monitor, and a transport ventilator. The vent does not require electricity to run. The isolette and monitor each have internal batteries to sustain them when we are on a trip.
The question/problem I have is that frequently we get shocked when we are pushing the cart. It doesn’t matter if we are rolling on carpet or other flooring. It has shocked me rolling across concrete. I don’t mean just a little shock either- sometimes it is really a lot. It also does it repeatedly. You get shocked, take a step or two, change hands on the cart and get shocked again- just as hard.
I just read the article by Mr. Static "Charging by Walking" and if I understood it correctly, it is possible to have static charge just by taking one step.
So, is it just static electricity shocking the crap out of me- repeatedly, or is there a potential electrical proble with our equipment that needs to be looked at?
It has only happened once, but one time when it shocked me I didn’t let go- I intentially held on- I could feel what felt like a light electric current pulsing for several seconds. I have not had that happen again.
Everyone I work with thinks I am wrong for thinking it is anything more than static electricity. I think Biomed needs to check out our equipment.
What do you think?
Thanks! MO

1.Take shopping carts for the express purpose of filling them and stranding them at strategic locations.
2.Ride those little electronic cars at the front of the store.
3.Set all the alarm clocks to go off at ten minute intervals throughout the day.
4.Start playing Calvinball; see how many people you can get to join in.
5.Contaminate the entire auto department by sampling all the spray air fresheners.
6.Challenge other customers to duels with tubes of gift wrap.
7.Leave cryptic messages on the typewriters.
8.Re-dress the mannequins as you see fit.
9.When there are people behind you, walk really slow, especially thin narrow aisles.
10.Walk up to an employee and tell him in an official tone, “I think we’ve got a Code 3 in Housewares,” and see what happens.
11.Tune all the radios to a polka station; then turn them all off and turn the volumes to “10”.
12.Play with the automatic doors.
13.Walk up to complete strangers and say, “Hi! I haven’t seen you in so long!…” etc. See if they play along to avoid embarrassment.
14.While walking through the clothing department, ask yourself loud enough for all to hear, “Who buys this crap, anyway?”
15.Repeat Number 14 in the jewelry department.
16.Ride a display bicycle through the store; claim you’re taking it for a “test drive.”
17.Follow people through the aisles, always staying about five feet away. Continue to do this until they leave the department.
18.Play soccer with a group of friends, using the entire store as your playing field.
19.As the cashier runs your purchases over the scanner, look mesmerized and say, “Wow. Magic!”
20.Put M&M’s on layaway.
21.Move “Caution: Wet Floor” signs to carpeted areas.
22.Set up a tent in the camping department; tell others you’ll only invite them in if they bring pillows from Bed and Bath.
23.Test the fishing rods and see what you can “catch” from the other aisles.
24.Ask other customers if they have any Grey Poupon.
25.Drape a blanket around your shoulders and run around saying, “…I’m Batman. Come, Robin—to the Batcave!”
26.TP as much of the store as possible.
27.Randomly throw things over into neighboring aisles.
28.Play with the calculators so that they all spell “hello” upside down.
29.When someone asks if you need help, begin to cry and ask, “Why won’t you people just leave me alone?”
30.When two or three people are walking ahead of you, run between them, yelling, “Red Rover!”
31.Make up nonsense products and ask newly hired employees if there are any in stock, i.e., “Do you have any Shnerples here?”
32.Take up an entire aisle in Toys by setting up a full scale battlefield with G.I. Joes vs. the X-Men.
33.Take bets on the battle described above.
34.Nonchalantly “test” the brushes and combs in Cosmetics.
35.While handling guns in the hunting department, suddenly ask the clerk if he knows where the anti-depressants are. Act as spastic as possible.
36.Hold indoor shopping cart races.
37.Dart around suspiciously while humming the theme from Mission: Impossible.
38.Attempt to fit into very large gym bags.
39.Attempt to fit others into very large gym bags.
40.Say things like, “Would you be so kind as to direct me to your Twinkies?”
41.Set up a “Valet Parking” sign in front of the store.
42.Two words: “Marco Polo.”
43.Leave Cheerios in Lawn and Garden, pillows in the pet food aisle, etc.
44.“Re-alphabetize” the CD’s in Electronics.
45.In the auto department, practice your “Madonna” look with various funnels.
46.When someone steps away from their cart to look at something, quickly make off with it without saying a word.
47.Relax in the patio furniture until you get kicked out.
48.When an announcement comes over the loudspeaker, assume the fetal position and scream, “No, no! It’s those voices again!”
49.Pay off layaways fifty cents at a time.
50.Drag a lounge chair on display over to the magazines and relax. If the store has a food court, buy a soft drink; explain that you don’t get out much, and ask if they can put a little umbrella in it.

I want to be one so bad and my brother used to race go carts at a track and stuff with other racers. I always say now that if he were still racing I would love to do it. I love it, but how do people become NASCAR drivers?

I’ve joined an engineering course and they require everyone to build model cars to see who’s can go the farthest down a ramp. Today’s topic is a tri-cart ( a cart with 3 wheels) and mine keeps on falling off the ramp. The race is tommorow and I really want to win. Anyone can help me?

I just bought a shopping cart cover to keep my little guy from touching/licking the horribly filthy looking carts when we go shopping .. I’m just wondering how often other Moms wash the ones you use? My initial (insane? crazy?) reaction is to want to wash it after every outing.. I figure I’m already doing his laundry every few days anyway, what’s one more thing to wash
Just wondering how often everyone else does it so I can relax a bit about this lol .

I live in Philly. I want to find a way to make my tool chest roll again. The chest is fairly new that’s why I want to design a cart or something to go under it. I don’t know how to weld so I’ll have to take it somewhere. Any idea of a design and how much it would cost with materials and labor?

i went there late at night once, and i tried jumping over the silver pole thing that was part of the cart return in the parking lot, and my foot got caught on it & i face-planted into the bar parallel to it. AND THEN! a guy in short shorts and a pink shirt walked buy eating a jumbo slim jim & asked my friend if she liked big meat. he walked away before she could answer. awesome night.

I am a 16 year old girl looking for my first car. I’m going absolutely insane as time and time again I find a car, but my dad doesn’t approve, or I find a car and the reviews are terrible. I just want a cute, used car, for under ,000 (closer to ,000 would be preferred), with great safety ratings and good gas mileage. I’m buying used, so the car needs to hold it’s value. I’m basically looking for the perfect car I guess.. but I’m beginning to doubt that I’ll be able to find the car for what I want. I just need to be pointed in the right direction; I’m hoping there’s a car that fits all my criteria that I just haven’t seen yet. I will probably be carting kids around, I love bright exterior colors, and it has to be ’07 or older. I just need some ideas, any advice would be great. Thanks!
P.S. I love VW bugs, the cutesy style and cars like that. (My dad said no to the bug). I’m also looking into Honda Civics, because I like them a lot, but Hondas seem to be more expensive.

Ticket in mobile home park, no real speed limit signs?
Regarding non conforming speed limit, and placement/type of speed limit sign.
I live in a mobile home park. Recently recieved a ticket for 20mph in a 15mph. I was told that he couldn’t let anyone slide, because the park office asked that they crack down on speed demons flying through the park. I know the people in the park office. They not only speed around here in their car, but also in a Golf Cart…I have said countless times to my wife…"I can’t believe how fast the people in the office drive through here, you would figure they would be the ones to be driving properly". Then, there are some people that come through here well over 30mph…really flying…
Everyone goes through here well over 20mph. Im serious, you would need well over 50 squad cars with officers, because everyone coming through here would get pulled over.
The speed limit signs here are about 4 feet off the ground, and homemade. Out of engraved wood, thats says Slow, Children at Play, with a picture silhouette of a girl running, and under that, it says in even smaller lettering(about 4inch lettering) 15 MPH….
IT DOES NOT SAY SPEED LIMIT at all. Though there are other homemade signs that do say SPEED LIMIT 15MPH….but not until you get further into the park…
I came through the entrance, turned right, which you will see the sign that says Slow, Children at Play 15MPH. Now, this street has a very slight downhill grade, so you would have to ride your brake to prevent from going over 15mph. If I take my foot off the pedals, from a stop, my vehicle will go past 15mph…The officer was waiting at the curve. I never passed or came up to a sign that says SPEED LIMIT 15MPH…
Now, there are some people, that are definately going to fast…but compared to what Ive seen, I am far from the real problem..
Do you think I would be able to fight this ticket, regarding non conforming speed limit signs, and speed limits that do not conform to drivers habits….????
Thanks
Also, for those who are going to say, "Do the crime, do the time", if that were the case, there would be no such thing as plea bargins, reduced charges, or any other types of deals that are cut in the "so full of holes and double standards" justice system….
Also, thanks for the responses thus far….

What are the limitations as far as content and activities go for a website with a .us domain? I wanted to purchase a .com domain name but someone else grabbed and parked and wants 00 for it. The same domain name is available with a .us extension, but I don’t know the what is or isn’t allowed. I want to run a couple test sites, possibly do a blog and shopping cart later down the road.

My son is going to turn 5 on the 22nd of this month. And I’m lost at what to get him.. he has just about anything a 5 yr old could want. He’s got a go-cart, a mini croch rocket, a min. horse, 2 dogs, a 4 wheeler, tons of playstation games, a ps3, 2 bicycles, a trampoline, a life size playhouse with an upstairs w/ hardwood floor and carpet, and tons more to name. my husband got him a lil 50cc dirt bike, but i don’t think he really needs it. what is something to get him? if this matters…. we live in the country (in alabama), up on the mountain, my son talks about redneck as it comes, he’s basically barefoot, with a pair of shorts on in the summer time playing in the sandbox, saying "mama, don’t cha know I could use a lil help here, ya reckon!!"

The problem says "The engine sprocket of Kyle’s go-cart is 4 cm indiameter. It’s attatched to a 20-cm rear axel sprocket that drives the go-cart." Part a says "Find the angular velocity of the rear axle when the engine is turning 4200 rpm" I understand part a, but part b says "Find the speed of the go-cart in km/hr under the conditions stated in part a if the rear wheels are 35 cm in diameter." Aaaahh, I’m confused. Thanks!
Okay, I’m not asking for somebody else to do it for me, but for somebody to explain it to me. What’s wrong with asking for help?
Thanks to the people who helped, though. Sorry.

hello i am not veronica that owns this profile but her friend, lydia. i just want to ask a quick ? of you guys.
i am 19 and am expecting a baby in 5 weeks. my then-fiance recentley walked out a few weeks ago leaving me w/ a whole load of bills at my house, which i am renting. my rent is 0 and then theres utilities w/ a seperate water bill and seperate electric. i have a cell phone to pay for too. i cannot work until 6 to 8 weeks post partum. my fiance had been paying for all of this until he walked out. my mom told me if i can get money to pay the landlord (which is my aunt) she will pay my utilities. my other aunt and friend have decided to split my phone bill. my mom has been wanting me to move back in w/ her, which is right next door. she has a husband (my step dad) who lives there too along w/ our adult cousin and my 2 sisters ten and 13. the house is only 2 bedroom so my parents have a room, my sisters have another room and my cousin sleeps on the couch or floor downstairs. i got my friend to loan me 200 and another friend to loan me 100. i just needed 80 more and was working on getting that from my grandma for doing work around her home. (cleaning, ect)
i gave the 300 to my mom for her to pay her sister a rent payment and tell her i will have the remaining $$ the next week. my mom says theres no point in having me be in debt to people and having to borrow $ for the next 3-4 months. my bills are already low b/c my shower head is broken so i shower and mostly eat on my moms side. (our houses are in a double) i have the food card and medical card so i can get food my bills are just a problem b/c i have 0 income. i am an stna and have a job lined up to start in april making 10 an hour, so paying ppl back will be done in the next 6-8 months.
my mother, however has her own ideas. she took it upon herself to call up my aunt and tell her i’m going to move back in with her b/c i couldn’t come up w/ the money in time. my aunt gave me till feb first but my mom told her thats ok i’m willing to move right now asap. then my mom spent 50 of my rent money on her and my dad to eat at outback and 40 to buy my sisters and cousins pizza and the another 30 to get my sisters haircuts.and of course now has no reason to pay utilities. so i’m going to use the $ i get from my grandmother and whats left of what my mom did not spend to cover the utilities.
i asked my mom about this and she said oh i will pay you back but i know thats not going to happen. she never pays any1 back unless its small things like borrowing a dollar or two until my dad gets home or something. my mom babysits and make a few hundred a week and my dad is a roofer which is seasonal work. my grown cousin doesn’t work either.
so now i am forced to move back next door-which i really don’t want to do. i will sleep down stairs in the corner of the living room in my bed w/ my baby in her crib or bassinett next to me. i have a care cart from walmart for her that will hold her diapers and such but that has to get stuck in the bathroom b/c there isn’t room in the living room. my stuff and my babys stuff like clothes and toys and any extra anything will be in tubs in an upstairs "play room" that is only about 11 by 4 feet.
i just got a bunch of new house things for christmas and they now must go into storage. i know i should be grateful for my mom being so generous when shew doesn’t have too, but honestly if you knew my mom. she is pushy and only wants me to live w/ her b/c she wants me to stay dependant on her and not be independant or have my own things. and also so i can clean the house and cook for her like i did in my teen years. i will have to work 2nd shift when i start my job which means sleeping late into the a/m. like i said my mom babysits a lot of toddlers who don’t go to school yet so w/ my bed in the living room i won’t be able to sleep past 6 am.
to top it all off, i got put on the chore chart w/ my sisters. my mom says i can help out if i am staying there and i said yea but i don’t need to be on a stupid chart for babies. i can already tell the chart is a way for me to be made to do plenty of work and not have any reason to not do what my mom wants me to do. what would you do here?

My son is 21 months old and has just recently started having terrible tantrums. I know the best thing i can do is ignore him, but this is not always possible. He bangs his head on the floor and does not quit. He will bang his head so hard that he makes himself cry and then will just keep hitting it more. He leaves terrible bruises on his forehead. After he gets what he wants he will quit but I just can’t watch him do this anymore. If we go to walmart, when i go to put him in the cart seat, he kicks his feet like crazy and screams bloody murder. Other people say just leave the store and let him no this isn’t ok to do, but i can’t leave everytime i go! i have to do my grocery shopping sometime! Also, when we go to restaurants he throws awful fits and throws all the food on the floor….. Am i going to have to stay home for the next 2 years? HELP!
