I have a 3 month old daughter that goes everywhere in her car seat. We’ve only been "shopping" to the Target where the carts are newer and our Graco actually snaps into the child’s seat perfectly. Is this ok to do this procedure for the regular carts too at grocery stores/walmart where the buggys child seat is smaller? Do we bring the stroller or what?

usually i put the car seat inside the actual shopping car. or it will snap into some of the shopping carts out there. I’ve never taken a stroller to the store because then how would i ever push the shopping cart at the same time. makes no sense to me why mom’s do that.

we put her in the actual buggy part. it takes up a lot of your room, but it is far better than worrying if the car seat is going to fall! if you need a whole cart for shopping, then bring the stroller and make sure both of you are there!<one for the stroller and one for the cart!>

Just as long as it’s secure and there’s no risk for her falling out. I personally like to use our baby backpack when I’m shopping. This gives our son some snuggle time while I have room in the basket. It’s a win-win situation.

If you are unsure about whether or not your car seat will fit securely in a shopping cart you can set the carrier inside the cart itself or get one of the grocery carts that have a baby carrier built in. Most grocery stores have sanitary wipes you can use to clean them off too. Otherwise, if your baby is old enough to sit up on her own well I would recommend getting a shop & play. You can get them at Target or Babies R Us. They go inside the seat on the cart and cover the parts that the baby can touch. They come in bright colors with toys and pockets and compartments for binkies, diapers & wipes, bottles, etc. If you pack them right you can forget the diaper bag at home too. When you are finished with the cart it will role up and you can easily carry it to your car. Hope this helps.

We had a Graco infant car seat for our daughter and the plastic things on the bottom always "hooked" onto any cart I used, including regular metal carts. It fit on there securely and I never had a problem or worry.

Just do what you think is best. If you can fit the car seat onto the child seat part without it wobbling about, then put it on. I did that with my son until he grew out of his carrier.

I also put my daughter’s car seat in the basket part, I am a worrier and always thought it might fall or something. I usually had someone else with me if I was getting alot of stuff that way they could push a cart, so there was enough room for groceries

If you go out to the store shopping and you go with someone else, why not to take the stroller, one pushes the baby the other pushes the shopping cart. I have a 3 month old too and that’s what I do. Most car seats will snap on a shopping cart, I know they do in Walmart, and sometimes if you are not buying too much stuff and you go by yourself just put the car seat inside the shopping cart, that works too.

This is a good question. We still use those carts with the infant seat and they DO NOT fit properly. They lay the baby back too far. But we still use the seats and never had a problem, but I would never leave the baby alone.
