I want to make a engine powered by a 250lb car air compresssor. i want to make a gocart or somthing.
im 13 and want a ride. i read you can use a car battery to power the compressor. i have two from trying to fix my old lawn mower.
my neighbor is a engine guy. he used to own the junkyard up the road. he’ll fix broken mowers and sell them in his yard. he showed us a shriner cart he has with a mower engine. he elling it and said i wouldn’t want it because it always needs repair… should i get it anyway… its really fun.
i mean with no fuel at all. the air turns a turbine, witch turns the wheels!!!
the compressor is powered by a battery.——
—-it will work like a windmill. when you blow it spins. seal outside to prevent escaping air, attach a axle to the hub, put in some gearsand wheels and whola!!! wont have much torque, but might work.

You’re going to need a motor to power the generator that will power the compressor to fill the tank that contains the air that you will use to drive the car. Since you are going to need a gas tank already, you may as well forget the compressor and just power your car with a fuel engine. *grin* You are going to experience losses due to the conversion of the potential energy in the compressed air to kinetic energy applied to the wheels that will make this effort useless. Good luck, nonetheless.

Forgive me for sounding like a d*ck but you REALLY need a college engineering education. You sound like those people from the ’70s with their alleged perpetual-motion machines! *laughter*

You are one of those people who thinks he can put a wind turbine on his car to re-energize his battery! *laughter*

And what will you use to operate the air compressor?

if you’re going to make a go cart use a motor from a 600cc street bike :) i made one from a cbr 600 motor and it rips

ive been over this idea before. the problem is diminishing returns, engines dont make as much power as the fuel produces because a lot of the energy is transformed into heat. so once you realize that all that energy is lost in the engine itself, then through the compressor and ultimately the motor that will run the vehicle… its not going to be practical.

you’d be better off making an electric go-cart. 4 12 volt batteries linked to make a 48 volt system with a powerful motor, simple and LOTS of power.

WITHOUT FUEL I JUST DON’T SEE YOUR PROJECT GETTING OFF THE GROUND.

IE: AIR COMPRESSOR, WHAT WILL POWER IT?????

    Thank you.
I didn’t think anybody actually listened to what was coming out of France in recent years but see now somebody has
    been learning something new.
Feel free to join The French Foreign Legion to learn more
new things. Nobody from France is allowed to join except
French Army Officers so you’ll fit right in.
Good luck on the compression technology.

Okay, lets just say you can get a compressor that runs on battery, what happens if the battery runs dry??? Presto, nomore compressed air.. Just throw in petrol engine and enjoy yourself..
