I was just wondering because I was in a store with my baby in a stroller. As I was browsing at merchandise in an aisle, a man in one of those electric carts (that the store provides) rolled up extremely close to me. So I assumed that maybe he wanted to look at some of the merchandise that was in front of me. So I kindly moved down the aisle a bit to allow him access. Again, the man shoved his electric riding cart right close up against me nearly touching me with it. So I finally asked him if he needed assistance and he rudely stated that he wants to get passed me and my baby. As a result, I pushed the stroller aside to allow him to pass and go on his way. But what perplexed me was why he didn’t just go around me and the stroller when there was plenty of room to go around us in the aisle. Are those electric riding carts really difficult to steer? Your help in answering this question is greatly appreciated.

The guy was being a jerk! I’ve had to use those things and the problem I had was that they are very sensitive to the direction you turn them, so that you tend to go too far in one direction if you’re not careful. If you take a minute to work with them, they’re very easily mastered. Anyway, all he had to do was say excuse me! On the other hand, maybe he was embarrassed about having so much difficulty with it or the fact that his age/physical condition led him to needing it in the first place, though. That can lead people (especially older men) to be rude or grouchy.

When you are used to driving a car when you get on one of those if you barelly more the wheel to the left or right you are going to go LEFT OR RIGHT! lol They are very sensitive but I think thats because it only have one wheel and the handle bars go straight to the wheel.

There may be people that are not drivers or have not been riding a bike either, some have stopped me while I was riding in one, and asked how difficult it was to ride in the electric carts. I stopped to briefly show and explain, that it was very easy, and they could go as slow as they liked, until they were comfortable riding in them. What you describe may have been a rude person, and you can report it to the Manager or a sales person in the store, and they could talk with him, about his dangerous driving and the attitude he had about it

some people just don’t know how to operate them..my opinion the markets that supply these should offer some type of training on how to use them or something..ive seen people run into shoppers, knock over displays and things like that
