My friends and I are going to be building an electric go-cart and we want to have a few different gears and we want to use a bike one because we know it will work and easy to install. We want it to be a trigger shifter where you pull one trigger with your index finger with to shift one way and the other with your thumb and shift the other way. We’re looking for that and a derailleur in a package preferably to make it easier to install.
Indexed bike shifters are designed to work with specific width bike chains and compatible cassettes. The tolerances are very tight; more than 0.3mm variance in chain width or cog spacing and it won’t shift correctly. How you’re ever going to make this work is beyond me.
