When carts of unequal masses push away from each other, which cart has more momentum?

In lab we put 2 carts on a track, pushed them apart with a spring. One cart had weights in it to make it heavier.
For the question, "which cart has more momentum", below is my answer. Am I right?

The cart with the extra weight in it, numerically, would have more momentum since P=mv (mass multiplied by velocity). The greater the mass, the less fast it has to move to equal momentum of a lighter object going the opposite direction . This makes velocity and mass inversely proportional. In case 2, the mass of cart M1 was almost double M2, yet they travelled in opposite directions to reach the end of the track in the same time. However, M1 went only half as far in distance as M2, because M2 was lighter and used velocity to travel a greater distance in the same time. The ratio of M2/M1 was identical to distance travelled (x1/x2). In case 3, M1’s mass was triple M2, and it travelled 1/3 as far in the same time.

I just turned 14 and I am in love with racing, not just go carts, but anyways. I live in Eufaula, Oklahoma. If anyone has any info/websites on any tracks in Oklahoma please let me know. I’m not wanting a place to go to and race every now and then. I’m wanting to do "touring" type racing, if touring is the word I’m looking for. Just competitve raceing. Minutes later we are racing go-carts around the winding track, taking no prisoners. Funny, I never expected my idol to be so competitive! He swerves in front of my cart, screaming, so innocent and child-like. Then he speeds away. I laugh to myself and press my pedal to the floor in an attempt to catch up with him. I don’t want him to be out of my sight. After about 20 minutes of racing, I see his cart come to a stop on the side. I pull over next to him. A slim but toned arm hangs out of the window. His fingers curl, beckoning me to come closer. I was out of my cart in 2 seconds flat. I made my way over to his window, as unsteady as a drunk. Ha, this man IS pretty intoxicating I think to myself. Leaning into the window I smell a sweet woodsy odor. He even smells amazing!? Oh Lord, please do not let me faint again.
“What do you want?” I question sarcastically, pushing him ever so lightly.
He blesses me with that heart melting smile and steps out of the cart. Before I know it my Roxy flip flops are lifted off of the go-cart track. He is carrying me, heaven only knows where. But I’m not complaining. His breathing is pretty even but I am so worried that I am too heavy for him. He’s muscular, but still so thin! After about 30 seconds of worrying I decide to close my eyes and savor the moment. I feel his heartbeat and at that moment, I knew I could die happy. Michael then flops me onto the grass beside a giant Ferris wheel. I lie on my back and smile up at him. He kneels over my prostrate body holding my arms hostage above my head. My heart must be about to beat out of my chest! I know that he can hear it!
“Don’t move a muscle,” he whispers.
“Your wish is my command,” I manage to say.
Michael then sprints off across the yard. I listen carefully as his footfalls become quieter and quieter. Obeying his command I lie on my back impatiently. My thoughts run wild. Did he desert me? Where did he go? When is he coming back? I drum my fingers against the cool grass to distract myself, I don’t succeed. Suddenly, a blast of cold water hits my face.
“AH!” I yell, wiping my eyes and standing up simultaneously. As soon as my eyes are clear I realize I am looking down the barrel of a gun, a Super Soaker to be exact.
“Oh no! Michael, NO!”
He pays no mind, squirting me mercilessly with the huge yellow and green water gun. I fumble around blindly trying to get my hands on him. I feel something plastic and cool touch my fingers. Revenge! I pick up my recently discovered Super Soaker and begin to pump it with the upmost ferocity. As I reach for the trigger I hear his mesmerizing voice.
“I never lose a water gun fight,” he shouts. We continue to drench each other with water for the next 10 minutes. Though, it was a pretty one sided fight. I feel myself collapsing onto the now soggy ground.
“I surrender,” I gasp. “No more!”

I just bought a new gold and white feathered cockateil and she grew up in a cage by a go-cart track so she is frightened of noise and people and every time i try to hold out my finger for her to climb up she either runs into her birdhouse or she bites it…and shes more used to my dad but she still gets scared when either of us holds out a finger for her to climb onto.How do we get her to ease up with out biting off my fingers?

i live in southern cali, and have noticed, nor can i think of any skate boarding rinks anywhere in the greater LA area, and would assume other populated areas as well. why is this? i see them at the outdoor parks made of concrete. but why not any indoor rinks w/ concession stands and some booths etc… there are similar places like gameworks, or speedway (which has a large go-cart track), some have laser tag and many other recreational activities, but no skating rinks w/ ramps and what not. is it because of some kind of safety issue?…because they have them at open public parks, so why not a private one? i have searched and searched and cannot find any that comes w/ concession stands and other games etc… kinda like a skating Dave & Busters.

My 16 year old niece is coming down for a week and I want to make sure she has fun, and experiences the world outside her small hick town she RARELY leaves. I want to make sure her mom will let her come over again. So nothing over the top. She has been ONLY to the mall here SEVERAL times so that would be boring for her.

I know she has -never- or -rarely- done any of this stuff. Go-cart track, motor boats, an amusement park. The view points of the city. Go on the subway to downtown to walk around, visit a star bucks and China town. …lazer tag, and a lazer light show at the science museum. I was also thinking an Underage night club.

When I am at work and she needs to hang at my place and stay there. I have a pool at my complex. If she wants to contact her BF, me, her family and friends if she needs something I am letting her barrow my prepaid cell. (we don’t have a land line phone) She can also use our computer. Watch TV, and we have a kitten.
Would that be fun er no?
I’m pretty sure her mom wouldn’t go for the night club. I plan to ask her but it might be over the top yes. They serve no booze. My BF and I go dancing a lot and she dances at school dances and sings to the night club type music. We were going to go inside with her and let her go dance or join her and the rest of the parents on the dance floor. The place is pretty strict and has security too.

It was previously answered as no but this is not the case. I worked there from 1973 to 1979 and one night during a school night party some kids grandfather asked me if I had seen his grandson. I had not but park employees soon found his body lying over a big sewer pipe underneath the rollercoaster ( he had fell out ). This was the reason for installing seatbelts in the rollercoaster cars soon afterwards. Also before that incident a long time employee was working at the go cart track when he was run over by a go cart operated by a kid who was too small. He lost is leg.

Yes,…I did see it on CMT but the MTV logo appeared from time to time at the top. I don’t know if it’s been on before but I haven’t seen any questions about it. I knew about some of his stuff but WOW!!! He’s living my dream. He has a real player piano but it works off of CD’s! He has a Dirt-Circle track go-cart track and X amount of go-cart’s for when friends show up and a full size replica of a good ‘ol 60′s gas station that actually stores said go-carts! 100′s of acres, etc. etc. Jamie Mcmurray was on afterwards but I had to run and missed it.
