Shifter Go Cart Archives
im looking to build a shifter kar with my dad, we are planning to build our own frame and do it all on our own as cheap as possible, what would be the best way to go?
Thanks,
Cody
My electric golf cart is hard to shift. The shifter is located under the seat. Right for forward and left for reverse. I lubed all the connections and it’s still difficult. I’m thinking there may be a bushing that went south.
I don’t go out on a lot of dates so when my neighbor offered to set me up with a coworker of his named "Chanel" this weekend, I figured, "why not?". (I’m in my early 50s, thrice divorced, reasonably handsome, GOD loving and well-accomplished. I don’t see why I don’t get more women.)
Anyway, we arranged to meet at a local restaurant. When Chanel arrived, I was pleasantly surprised! She was over 6 feet tall, had steely blue eyes, broad shoulders, and was wearing a beautiful dress and expensive looking size 14 Manolo Blahniks. After a pleasant dinner we caught a movie and then went back to her place for a nightcap. (Her suggestion, NOT mine.)
About three drinks into thing she excuses herself and returns several minutes later pushing a squeaky metal cart. The cart held a PowerCharge Premium diesel truck battery attached to leads and tiny steel clamps of some sort. She then asked me if I knew anything about open circuit voltage and wanted me to help "test" the amperage of the battery. She proposed attaching the leads and clamps to my nipples. Needless to say, I was shocked. I excused myself quickly, jumped into my car, and sped home as fast as I could, hands trembling as I manipulated my shifter.
Anyone else ever had a similar experience? Is this kind of thing "normal" on the dating scene today?
GOD bless you-

i am thinking of buying a go cart to race and i don’t no if it is any good its a 2003 CRG shifter kart chassis witch i think that they put a 4 cycle on it it is a 125cc and it comes with every thing you pretty much need it has extra motor, racing suit, kart shoes, neck collar, rib protector, front tires all for about 1500 i think it will come with the go cart stand to
I am mechanically incline but not too keen on transmissions so bear with me.
I am doing some custom fabrication type thing into a golf cart frame type setup. We will be using a 1.0 geo/suzuki motor. I need a 5 or 6 speed RWD manual transmission that will work with this set up. Finding the right transmission we can make an adapter plate for such as a T56 or a tranny out of a 240sx is not the problem. The problem is we will be mounting the engine and transmission behind the driver, connecting to a rear axle in the back. Like a usual setup except again, the transmission will be mounted behind the driver/passenger cab. So in order to do this setup, I would need to build some custom shifter linkage. Which is just measuring and fabricating. Thats the easy part.
From doing some research, I noticed that all RWD manual transmissions I have seen have the shift linkage connection on the top of the transmission where you would mount a shifter as most of these transmissions are usually mounted underneath the floor pan.
My question is, are there any RWD manual transmissions that also have a linkage on the side or something along those lines so I can attach a custom linkage to a shifter mounted in the drivers/passenger cab? Please let me know. Also, please answer the question and not saying anything about my project. Thanks so much!
….
Thank you everyoen for your help.
Can anyone though tell me which transmissions they have in mind? Any of these transmissions would be easier the make an adapter to fit to this engine than others? Any transmissions you would consider light-weight? I was lookng at older transmission such as from the 60′s but they would be too heavy.
My friends and I are going to be building an electric go-cart and we want to have a few different gears and we want to use a bike one because we know it will work and easy to install. We want it to be a trigger shifter where you pull one trigger with your index finger with to shift one way and the other with your thumb and shift the other way. We’re looking for that and a derailleur in a package preferably to make it easier to install.

i am going to buy a racing go cart cuz i want to start racing but i want to no witch one of these are the best the all come with some extra but the crg cost 1500 and the birel cost 2000 witch one is a better buy and will last the longest and of course the funnest
What will I need to make a shifter cart?
Can you make a list of every single thing that I will need to make one?
It doesn’t have to be an amazing cart. Just ok…
Thanks
I HOPE THE CEO OF GM GETS TO READ THIS… I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD GET BAILED OUT. OTHER WISE AS WE KNOW IT LIFE WILL SUCK PART STORES WILL CLOSE AND PARTS WILL BE MORE EXPENSIVE AND HARD TO FIND AND THEN ALL THE JOBS PEOPLE IN THE AUTO INDUSTRY HAVE TO FEED THERE FAMILIES. HOWEVER EVEN IF THEY GET BAILED OUT IT WONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE UNLESS THEY GET THERE ACT TOGETHER… I HAVE BEEN IN THERE NEW CARS. THEY SUCK, THEY ARE CHEAP, AND THE RELIABILITY AND QUALITY SUCKS. HONESTLY GO BUY AND ACCORD, A ACURA TL, THEN GO AND GET A CAMERY, AND A CORROLLA… LOOK AT THEM STUDY THEM, TAKE THEM APART REALIZE WHATS SO DIFFERENCE AND START MAKIG YOUR CARS LIKE THERES… MAKE YOUR PARTS LAST LONGER… I OWN A 2002 TL. 200,000 MILES I HAVE YET TO REPLACE A WATER PUMP, AN ALTERNATOR… I HAVE PUT SUCH LITTLE MONEY INTO THIS CAR AND IT RUNS LIKE A CHAMP… THEN I HAVE A 99 ALERO WITH 140,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAD TO REPLACE WATER PUMP, ALERNATOR, COOLANT TUBES, TIE RODS, BALL JOINTS, JUST STUPID PARTS BEFORE 120,000. MAKE THE CARS WIRTH SOMETHING BUYING I LOOK AT THEM AS THROW AWAY VEHICLES. AND ON TOP OF ALL THIS… GET RID OF HUMMER… THATS A BIG WAIST OF MONEY RIGHT THERE… MAKE THEM EXTINCT. AS FOR THE REST OF EVERYTHING I BELIEVE THEY SHOULD HAVE THERE BRANDS GMC, AND CHEVY BECOME ONE… THEY GMC VERSION IS THE SAME THING JUST A LITTLE NICER… GET RID OF IT… MERGE IT DO SOMETHING…. AS FOR PONTIAC THATS ANOTHER STORY… ALONG WITH BUICK, SATURN. AND AS FAR AS SAAB GOES I WONT EVEN GET INTO THAT ONE! AND AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED MAYBE IF THEY WOULD KEEP UP ON NEWS AND HAVE REALIZED HOW MANY PEOPLE WANT OLDSMOBILE BACK…. THAT WOULD GET YA ALOT OF BANK RIGHT THERE… START IT BACK, COME OUT WITH ALL NEW ALERO, AURORA THE WHOLE LINE… NEVER SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN RID OF IT IN THE FIRST PLACE… AND REALLY INSTEAD OF HAVING IMPALAS AND MALIBUS LOOK IDENTICAL TO EACH OTHER MAKE IT DIFFERENT NEVER BE AFFRAID TO GO DIFFERENT. I HATE THE NEW IMPALAS AND MALIBUS…. THERE DASH BOARDS ALONE ARE PLASTIC AND CHEAP… THE DONT EVEN PUT ICONS DOWN BY THE GEAR SHIFTER TO KNOW WHAT ITS IN YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT DASH BOARD IT SHOULD BE ON BOTH…. STOP STOP STOP STOP MAKING CARS LIKE ALERO AND GRAND AM GT…. WITH LITTLE DIFFERENCE ITS A WAIST OF MONEY. YOU DONT NEED LOOK ALIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DOES TOYOTAS CAMRY LOOK ANYTHING LIKE THERE LEXUS???? NOPE NOT ANYMORE CAUSE THEY GOT SMART!!!! YOU DO THOSE THINGS THEN YOU SHOULD GET BAILED OUT AND GET TO THEM… BUT BAILING THEM OUT AND HAVING THEM DO NOTHING TO IMPROVE WILL JUST PUT AMERICA IN MORE DEBT CAUSE IT WILL ONLY SAVE EM A FEW YEARS THEN THEY WILL WANT MORE MONEY…. AS FAR AS JEEP GET RID OF THEM!!!!!! NO ONE IN THIS ECONOMY NEEDS A JEEP ANYMORE…. LET ALONE HAVE A SOCCER MOM DRIVING AROUND A CHEVY SURBURBAN CAUSE THEY HAVE A TWO MONTH OLD CHILD TO CART AROUND… REALLY HONESTLY GET A CLUE… WE DONT NEED EM… START SOMETHING SMARTER AND MORE FUEL EFFICIENT!!!!

if i were to sell these what do you think they would be worth on ebay. If you can just help me out for one of them that would be great. Also would you check to make sure i named everything right. Would the rust be a big problem. I was gonna take the electric steel brush and take what i can off.
any advice would be very helpful.
here is the whole set if you want to see more pictures.
thanks!!
also if i have it shipped via ups, can i have them pack it for me and provide me with a box. do they charge extra for packing it. If not how do you reccomend me packing something that big?
thanks again
Its a 1980 something honda odyssey fl-250. I am having issues with the stock 250 motor’s stator assembly. I am also tired of putting money into this engine. I had the idea that if I do a little fab work, and a lot of scratching my head I might be able to find a crotch rocket that someone wrecked, that I could pick up for cheap, and take the engine/tranny from it to fab to the odyssey. I realize this will be a lot of work, but not impossible. My plans are to get a 600/1000cc engine and tranny from a cbr or similar. Mount it on the rear of the cart. Remove stock gear case/centrifugal clutch. Then fab the mounts, and use the same chain drive to a sprocket on the rear axle (live axle). The shifter will hopefully mount up to my left side (while driving) and place a mechanically actuated clutch pedal in the foot well. This would use the same stock shifter, new clutch assembly, and still be able to give it some gas while shifting. {gas on handle bar on right side, brake same on left} The issue thus far has been finding an engine that someone crashed, but that is still in good shape with the tranny, for a somewhat cheap price. Once I have that, then the fun of getting it all to go together starts. I for see a lot of welding, moving the seat, and lots of $$ going into this, might be cheaper to build one from scratch… but where is the fun in that.
Any help on finding an site to look at engines (other than auction) and any input on how fucking dumb i must be is welcome. Also if you have anything that might help, be it a engine/tranny, or even some way to hook it up in mind let me know.
btw i live in the akron ohio area… so if you know of a salvage/junk yard with sport bike engines/trannies thanks so much.
I’m considering racing go karts. I’m 15 and wondering what a good beginner kart costs. Where to buy them (online) and what cart. I don’t want a shifter kart yet.
The place i want to become a member at is Motorsports Club Of Cincinnati. I asked the owner what a good begginer cart is. Here is his answer.
As far as karts, we (MCC) are a dealer for CRG. This means that we can
sell any new CRG karts, from beginner up to six speed shifters. If you
are looking for something used to begin, then I cannot sell that to you,
but I am certainly happy to discuss and help you into the right direction.
A new beginner kart from MCC will run about ,000. If you are looking
for something used, and would like to talk about it, just let me know.
6,000 IS THAT NORMAL???
my parents require me to do a sport once a year. and before i’ve been forced to play football even tho i hate foot ball like i hate prepubesent voices on xbox live…..
ne ways so im looking for a less team sport type thing that will keep me pasionant and intrested.
the only things i can think of are like competitive gun shooting, fencing (like those skinny swords), dirt biking, racing a shifter cart (those little go carts that go like 60 that are round and crap.), drifter, drag racer.
u no adrenalin junkie type shit.
also im only 15 so take that into account, example ur not allowed to sky dive till ur like 18 so i probaly couldnt competitive sky dive.
thanks in advanced for ur help
i’ll give 10 pts to person who gives me the most sports that arn’t like foot ball base ball basket ball. no normal sports.
for reference heres a link to a pic of the shifter cart,

Ok im starting to race and i need to know what kind of cart to get i haven't raced so i don't know much. I need like a good begging cart. I don't want a shifter cart though. I want one that has a Honda engine and that will have a bunch of upgrades and is easy to find parts for.
And should i get a sprint or endurance. And were should i buy it from?
i’ve known him for a year.we hung out alot b4 dating. he’s into hunting, shifter cart racing, and fox sweatshirts i guess. he playes alot of video games w/ his spear time but i just don’t know what to get him.
im looking for a place in Pheonix,az to buy a shifter cart or a fast go cart. Im not going to b using it for racing or anything. just something to mess around with.
wat would be a good store to buy one from?
how much do they cost?
wat one should i buy?
shifter or regular?
Okay so i am constructing a cart that is powered by a 5 hp lawn mower engine. me and my friend where thinking of using a belt and just throwing belt driven gears on the crankshaft. And we were going to switch the gears using a derailer, but i dont know. Any ideas?
