I am planning a trip to Australia for 3 months. I have a place to stay (actually places) so, I don’t have to pay for room and board, because they will feed me as well. :) I’m just wondering about how much cash I should save up in order to have a good time. I’m not a huge partier or anything like that I mostly like wandering around looking at things, I’m a very frugal person (I’m someone who will go "shopping" for hours on end and put a lot of things in my cart and end up talking myself out of buying most things and walk out with only 2 or 3 things, even when I shop at Goodwill, I love that place!) I also love taking photographs and sight seeing. I was thinking a few thousand should work, I’m just not exactly sure. I don’t really know about the cost of anything there so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Work out what you would spend in your own country doing these things then use the current exchange rate to see how many Australian dollars you would need.

As your accommodation is taken care of, you’re in luck. You need to hit the tourist sites, of course (Sydney Opera House, the Rocks, Sydney Harbour Bridge, several museums, etc.), but those are not too expensive. Hang out in Glebe a lot. It’s a wonderful area with a lot of great little shops. Booze might be a bit pricey, so you might want to budget for that.
