I keep going back and fourth if I should just get a conv car seat rather than one of the infant carriers. My son was only in his carrier for five months before I got a convertible one. Part of me thinks it’s a waste but then I think of how convenient it was when we’d go anywhere to just plop the car seat into the stroller or shopping cart. I can’t make up my mind! If you skipped the infant carrier, are you glad you did?

I loved the infant carrier too much to skip it. My babies loved to sleep in it too, so I just unhooked it from the base in the car and left them strapped in. soooo easy ;)

I skipped it with my first and didnt realise how silly I had been till i had one with my second, its so much easier. My liitle one is 12 months and still in the infant carrier seat, she is 13 lbs so Im really getting my moneys worth outta the car seat, she will probably use it till shes 2.

I didn’t do it with neither of mines, but I’m regretting it now because I am about to be out of more money, but it was cheaper in a way to buy te travel system, but about time my lil one was 3 months I got tired of hooking the car seat to the stroller in this cold.

    i have a 2yr old and a 1yr old and i used the 0-18kg convertible car seats,
i having the same problem now tho coz im 20weeks pregnant and i just cant work out if i should get a carrier so like you said ‘when we go anywhere we can just plop the car seat into the stroller, etc’ and only have to worry about my another two children. but i don’t plan on anymore babies so i also feel it may not be worth it.

I wish I would have skipped the infant carrier. I had my daughter in a convertable by 3 months old. She screamed in the infant seat but never in the convertable. And I dont use a stroller or put her in a shopping cart. I use a Moby Wrap so trying to take her out of it while in the car then trying to get her back in it was too difficult because they arent as big as a convertable. I hated the infant carrier. Its up to you though. If you use a stroller and such it might be better for you.

Convertible Car Seats will last much longer, it’s up to your personal preference and your financial situation. We saw no problems with just using the convertible car seat from the start, but again it’s what you can afford and what you prefer. If you need the infant carrier for shopping, then get a used one and use it only for Shopping Carts and such, it’s not a crash safety issue when it’s only used for shopping (LOL, unless you’re one of those crazy shoppers (joking)).
