I have a 4-cycle EZGO TXT gas golf cart.

I’ve forgotten to put oil in it for a few months, was driving, and the cart began to slow down, sputter, and click.

I pulled over to the side of the road and called someone to bring oil (as I remembered then). I put plenty of oil in – the cart will still run, but it doesn’t go as fast, doesn’t handle hills well, and will still click once every 5 minutes.

What do I do? Is it still safe to run now that it has oil? Does it just take some time for the oil to lubricate all the parts?

your cart may be broken for good i don’t know much about golf carts but i am a auto mechanic and if the oil never gets changed or no oil is in the system you will most likely bend the rods for the intake of a air gas mixture and the rods that need to be lubricated for exhaust and also you might have screwed up the cam shaft depending on how long it was driven with no oil
