I have actually been to Gatlinburg several times, but it is usually a girls only (myself, my best friend, mom, aunt) shopping type trips. But this July, we are taking a big family trip there for a week. My, hubby and our two kids (ages 13, and 6 months) as well as my parents and aunt and uncle will be going. We have a cabin rented and that’s all taken care of. But, since I’ve never been with my family before, what are some good things to do, espcially with a six month old. My thirteen year old will be happy with arcades, go carts, mini-golf etc., but what about my six month old. Any ideas?
I would have to agree with one of the other responses. Your 6 month old will probably not enjoy the area as much as your 13 year old. The 6 month old will probably just enjoy being strolled around Gatlinburg.
It’s a big tourist trap with a few nice things. Enjoy walking the downtown area, but it is crowded too – nice shops there, though. Go drive through the scenic parks and stuff. I in particular love the big Christmas shop on the main strip as well as the huge Apple Barn. Those are "must see’s" for me in every trip.
There are several Christmas shops but the big one is the Christmas village, which I can’t remember the name of. It’s on the main drag and it has several connected shops. You gotta go, regardless of the time of year.
The 6-month old will be too young to appreciate any memories of the trip. I’m just guessing.
