I’ve had this electric golf cart for 4 years now. This spring I went to the campground to pull it out of my shed. The batteries were low charged as expected. Even when its low charged, it always would move every spring. This time we had to push it. I plugged it in for a few days and when I went back it had fully charged up. I thought great!! I went to move it but it still didn’t move. The motor seems to be fine and sounds like its working but the cart wheels aren’t moving. All it does is shake like it wants to move. Any suggestions on where to look for the problem would be great. Since I live in a rural area, I have to fix it myself. Thanks !!
The parking brake was not on for the winter. It was in neutral with wood blocks put behind the wheels.
check your solenoid
Hook a voltmeter across the main negative on the battery bank to the power terminal on the solenoid (coming from the positive side of the battery bank) and you’ll read 36 volts (assuming it’s a 36 Volt system). Now hook it to the power terminal on the other side of the solenoid and it should read ‘zero’. If it reads 36 volts – trouble – bad solenoid. If it reads ‘zero’, depress the accelerator slightly and the solenoid should actuate and the voltmeter should read 36 volts – solenoid is good. If is solenoid is bad, get a new solenoid
Do you have parking brake on while it’s stored away? It could be that it’s jammed or stuck in this position. Check if your brake pedal feels the same then check your gear shifter and make sure nothing is disconnected or loose and dirty. Sometimes if you just ease up on the gas pedal and not put it to the floor it will run. That happens a lot after we store our carts for the winter. Hope you get it going. Good luck.
