I’m half hispanic and surely wouldn’t go out of my way to degrade my mother’s background. So why am I considered "racist" for pointing out the obvious. …because if I saw SusieJane doing the same thing..I’d call her on it too….
I guess I don’t feel too much compassion because I was parentless and homeless as a teenager and I found my way all on my own. Now, I know that it may be different for a younger child..but does anyone make the connection that some people continue to pop out children that they can’t afford because we have a legal system that encourages it?
To the person who said I should "mind my own business" and "stop being nosy". IT IS MY BUSINESS. Pablita is spending my HARD EARNED tax dollars and I’m wondering why I don’t get more of a say in where they go.
To be quite frank, I’m worried about the wellbeing of our American children…the ones who are being neglected left and right because we have others coming in here to openly abuse the system.
Until every American child is being assisted with their education, placed in proper foster homes, and/or completely healthy…WHY WOULD ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND GIVE FREE HANDOUTS TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT FROM OUR COUNTRY?
It’s like me having a broken down house….shouldn’t I fix it first before I attempt to help the rest of the neighborhood fix theirs?

You have valid points. The truth is it’s nearly impossible to find a fair balance between illegal immigration, and human rights. We could round up all illegals and ship them somewhere, but that would be more costly than providing resources for those that are here.

And, I’m less concerned about that WIC check than I am as to why her children are not in school. Education is the best way to stop that vicious cycle.

You are not racists, I completely agree with you . Although this can happen with many other races, it is predominantly hispanics(at least where I have lived). I have a friend who works at a 7-11 and she has told me that these welfare people come into her store and buy groceries from there and they sometimes have $900+ on their cards. So this person can go to 7-11 to buy groceries while I am pinching pennies to get a quart of milk for my son at the 99cent store. 7-11 is approximately 3 times the cost of the regular grocery store right across the street, but they don’t care cause it’s not their money it’s ours.
Maybe she is jealous, I know I have been. You know how many times I wish I even qualified for WIC? My husband takes home only 66% of his paycheck after taxes and insurance – our copays are still exorbitant and we have hospital bills up the wazoo. Don’t I wish sometimes I had qualifed for Medi-cal. I’m not saying the grass is greener on the other side, poverty is a bitch- but I understand her frustration. Living within the system, paying taxes, and paying one’s own way is not easy. It is in fact more work than being subsidized for doing nothing.
