I want to be one so bad and my brother used to race go carts at a track and stuff with other racers. I always say now that if he were still racing I would love to do it. I love it, but how do people become NASCAR drivers?
Start out in karts or local tracks. Work your way up and hope to get noticed by someone with connections. Best of luck to you.

start out with fascar

Get a car, waste thousands of dollars souping it up, enter Nascar, win. How easy can it be?
It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. You have to race your way up the ranks usually beginning with go karts, then Legends or Bandoleros, local stock car racing, then a touring stock car series series, ASA or Hooters ProCup, ARCA, Trucks, Nationwide, Cup.
Or, the open wheel variation that will have quarter midgets, sprints and midgets, modifieds, etc…
You have to be good in every series, win and get noticed to move to the next rank.
Today the number is much over spending thousands of dollars. Its easily spending millions of dollars. that is other than the very rare few that will always just admit that they have been plain Lucky!
Lot of hard work and money..and sacrifices if you or family dont have alot of money to start out with..and it doesnt hurt to have family already involved in nascar ….and a racing background is a plus too
Just start out at local tracks in your area and move up from there
Start out at your local track and move up as your wins grow and your sponsors grow!!!!!!!
They have to do really well in another big program like Arca/Remax series. They have to stand out from the others. Like Carl Edwards he is on all the commercials even in prime time. His trade mark back flip has flipped him into his fifteen minutes of fame.
they start by racing smaller cars when they are little and as the get older the y learn to drive cars that are faster and the n they work their way up the line by starting in the indy cars then bush and then nascar and sometimes if their family is famous and is in the nascar series then they will start in the bush race but you have to have the will of sacraficing your life and being able to go FAST.
Most all of the answers above are correct and a lot of drivers have made it in using those methods. But the easiest way to get in is to have someone already famous in Nascar as a relative, or at least willing to help you. I won’t bore you with a list, but there are many that made it in for that reason!!
In most cases it’s pure luck, right place at the right time thing!
You have to climb up the racing ladder. Most NASCAR drivers start on local dirt tracks, in modifieds or things like that. Cars they make themselves, get their own crew, pay their own cash (and quite bit of it), and don’t earn back what they spend. It’s hard, really hard. Then, someone finds out about them, sponsors them, and take them higher and higher, or they decide themselves that they want to get into bigger racing (like Jeff Gordon or Jimmie Johnson). NASCAR isn’t just Busch Racing and Sprint Cup racing though, keep that in mind, NASCAR sponsors many little races in many states, once you get into a small NASCAR race, you gotta prove yourself, show how much you want it, race it, and see what happens.
Long, slow process that costs quite a lot.
