How do you think I should go about starting a petition in my state to change the welfare system?

I go into a grocery store 2-3 times monthly and on almost every occasion I get stuck in line behind someone using an Access card(food stamp debit card). I see all kinds of goodies in their cart or up on the conveyer belt, cookies , snacks, soda-pops, nice cuts of meat(whcih I don’t see a problem with the meat, its just the principal of the matter). After seeing what is in their cart I look up to see nicely dressed citizens with name brand clothes in great condition, their nails are all done up and their hair is in some fancy updo or nicely groomed looking professionally done. They vary in race but its usually some skinny white lady, or some thick black lady, no kids in sight. I get irked everytime wondering what is wrong with this picture! I have thought about this many times, but finally have come up with a solution to fix the system instead of just griping about it. I would like to circulate my ideas through-out the communities ,and get signatures of those who agree, any ideas?
good luck on trying to change that.
consider this. they may object to what you buy. i don’t like some peoples choices, but it is not my desire to control others. there are limits to what they are allowed to buy(alcohol, tobacco, pet products and non food items),beyond that is no way to control it. would you limit their purchases to only generic or store brand(cheaper). it would take reclassifying or banning certain foods. then the next complaint would be over freedom. you would have to address that kind of change at the federal level.
First you have to back up your statement. I don’t see the same picture at my grocery store but then I am Canadian and we don’t use food stamps as much per say.
First pop is cheaper than real Vitamin C juice, egg noodles cheaper than spaghetti with hamburger sauce, and tuna has been handing out mercury by the ton for how many years ?
The only real mothers who shop for food hit the stores first thing, while the rest don’t wake up until noon and then they trade off stamps for pot, crack and booze.
Food stamps accomodate the monoply of real estate, the landlord always gets paid in cash. Donations shop at Walmart to sponsor the elections’ campaign, and so on.
If I had to stand in line especially next to you I would not want a hair out of place because I would not want you to say I was a welfare slob. My kids would probably stay home since you would have something to say about them too.
Now I dress down because for all the fancy clothes that have been donated to single mothers there still is not enough food and shelter to go around.
The fancy clothes are there to protect the district’s value of real estate, no more no less. It also creates the facade that donations are doing well when in fact the fancy clothes are a dime a dozen and practically in almost all instances free.
Nothing is ever what it seems and you would be a fool to petition. If anything food stamps have failed in its purpose because many who use food stamps are objectified by you and your narrow points of view.
But most important, the poor are the largest majority vote, so if you can control where their money is spent, it all comes back to you the minority rich and your vote.
Personally I prefer Vitamn C and calcium over pop, but then you don’t want that for my kids now do you …
You just want to obscure my vote.
I think your aim should be to get rid of the welfare system in your state. Public money should never be used for private gain. A person is disadvantaged because of something they have done. Taxpayer money shouldn’t be used to support the morally bankrupt, the lazy or those who cannot rise above their circumstances to achieve. Welfare states bankrupt the country.
150 years ago welfare was unheard of. People did their work and did it with pride. People that couldn’t work normal jobs did what they could. Families helped out those that couldn’t work. Communities gave assistance where needed. The government never handed money out in welfare.
