I have a friend who was bragging about how much and what she got her children for christmas! No kidding, she spends about 1000.00-1500.00 per kid!!!!!! my husband felt a bit embarrassed because we put a limit on what we spend. Mind you that my kids race go carts all year long(expensive) and they are in numerous sports(all year long-expensive) And we try to teach them the values of money. We spend like 100-150.00 on each kid x 4 kids. They have never complained, Are we cheap? Or do they just spend too much?
the sad part is there is 3 children, it goes on credit card!! And they are losing everything they have-they filed for bankruptcy 3 weeks ago, they were told it would take a couple months.

That is spoiling too much, sounds like they are buying their kids love. Christmas is not about the gifts it’s celebrating Jesus and spending time with loved ones. Gifts are just a perk and should not be the focal point of Christmas. I think your friends kids are in for a rude awakining when they grow up. life is not like that and they are going to be in for a rude awakining.

No, you guys are good. Over that is a tad much, especially for 4 kids.

That is crazy, 1,000 on each kid! Wow. I think what you are spending is good, depending on their ages. As they get older, it may go up a bit, seeing how clothes get more expensive and one cell phone is about 100 dollars. You are being great parents. Merry Christmas.

Its not really for us to judge other people. Some people have large expensive gift-giving budgets at Christmas, and others choose smaller budgets. We have a $100-$200 budget for each kid. As long as my kids realize what Christmas is really about (meaning, not toys) I don’t have a problem with spending more if I end up able to do so.

your not cheap whats right for one family does not mean that its right for you I think its good that you want to teach the value of a dollar to your children so many kids just don’t understand and hey turn out to be brats even as adults

I think your friend is going crazy. She will raise spoled brats.

I dont know how old your kids are but what you are spending seems more reasonable for older kids and a little less reasonable for younger kids.

I think that the most important thing is you trying to teach them the value of money. Also, what I have seen from my son is that kids appreaciate the most the love you give them.

Try to get involved in your friends snobby game. I think she is trying to show off that she can afford to spend the money on the kids (regardless of whether she can or not).

    Good Luck.

you sound like good parents- we spend the same. they are idiots- there kids are probably spoiled rotten. spoiling a child does a lot of harm, even into adulthood, you are teaching your chidren right. when it comes to your kids, do what you feel is right not what others do
