I just bought a shopping cart cover to keep my little guy from touching/licking the horribly filthy looking carts when we go shopping .. I’m just wondering how often other Moms wash the ones you use? My initial (insane? crazy?) reaction is to want to wash it after every outing.. I figure I’m already doing his laundry every few days anyway, what’s one more thing to wash ;) Just wondering how often everyone else does it so I can relax a bit about this lol .

I just bought a cover! Love it! I would maybe wash it every few weeks to a month. The part that comes into contact with your baby, never touches the cart anyways.

    Enjoy :)

    Never had one.

Trust me, you get less neurotic as you have more kids.

I wash it every outing. Its not a big deal if you forget to wash it once though.

I usually just throw it in the hamper right after I put the food or whatever I bought away.

i didnt have like that cover and I will not even buy 1 if i have 2nd child.your child will be fine without it.

i would do it every time. shopping carts are disgustingly dirty. think about peoples hands and where they may have been as well as sneezing, coughing, etc.

I do not own a shopping cart cover. yes, shopping carts are dirty, just like everything else in the world your baby will come into contact with – the swings at the park, the sandbox, the grass, the floor where your baby crawls around, the unidentifiable objects your baby puts in her mouth (yes, including the dog food! LOL!), the handrail at the mall, the toys they put in their mouth at playgroup that lord knows where they have been, the soother that fell on the floor….etc.etc.

Although I DO take reasonable precautions (washing my children’s hands after using the washroom, before eating, when coming in from outside, washing toys periodically, etc.) I am NOT neurotic. Children who live in sterile environments will never build up their immune system. Antibiotics and antibacaterial soaps cause more problems than they solve and are the reason we have antibiotic resistant bacterias that can be very dangerous.
