I have a home-built (not by me) mini dune buggy with a 540cc 2-stroke snomobile engine on it. It runs great but is very loud. I know some things about engines but not too much. Would it hurt anything if I put a golf cart muffler off the exhaust of the stock snowmobile exhaust. I.E. would the engine overheat, bog out, or lose significant power(i expect power loss but not huge). Any tips that do not involve buying a 250 dollar aftermarket exhaust would be greatly appreciated.

There shouldn’t be a problem as long as the inside tube part of the muffler isn’t smaller than the tailpipe.
Go to an auto salvage yard for all kinds and sizes of used mufflers.
They could probably even weld it onto the exhaust pipe for you (for a little extra cash, of course, but nowhere near $250).

im with above on this one…any silencer can be welded on,just dont go for a ”strait through” can.
