From your somewhat limited description it sounds like the crankshaft. If you have the GX390 with the gear reduction addition (i doubt it) it would be the output shaft from the sun gear. Honda parts are expensive, but there are several on line sources for Honda small engine parts. It’s a rather simple repair, remove side cover, balance shaft, cam and lifters. Remove flywheel, unbolt rod, slide rod and piston up out of the way and snake the crank out. reverse to reassemble. Line up timing marks on cam, crank and balance shaft. Torque rod bolts and reassemble. I have several GX390′s in my shop for mini cup race cars. If you want more info or performance parts for this post your e-mail address here and I will get with you. I may have a crank, but most of mine have been shortened.

I might be wrong but that sounds like your referring to the crankshaft. If so it would probably be better in the long run to purchase a new engine, but you might be able to get a replacement online or through a Honda small engine repair shop.

Sometimes it takes more effort to ask a question than to find the answer yourself. Good luck!!
