im working on an old go cart engine and the clutch is held on by 2 set screws, which i took off. But I think that it is also rusted inside on the crank shaft because i can’t get the clutch off still. I tried prying it, tapping it with a hammer, and now there is wd-40 soaking on the end of the shaft while the engine is on its side to hopefully leak down the shaft. Any ideas on how to get this thing off?? its the only thing keeping me from getting inside the engine.

My go kart has a little 4HP B&S engine on it. its really old too. and I cant get it to start or stay running. i have good spark, and fresh fuel. new spark plug and new throttle cable. I cant start it unless I saturate the carburetor with starter fluid and prop the rear wheels up and put it at full throttle. the clutch works on it, but I cant start the engine unless it is at full throttle. 3 out of 10 times it will stay running. and when it does run it is really really rough. itll sound like a loud lawnmower for a few seconds and then a loud pop or two over and over. when i get it running i can back the throttle down a tiny bit at a time until the clutch disengages and i can set the cart down. When I go to sit on it, if the engine stays running, the engine will die as soon as I give it gas. It will move a tiny bit then just die. what could be my problem?

Im trying to put a clutch on a small engine for a go cart or mini bike, but there is no hole in the crank shaft of the engine to screw into to hold the clutch on. what should i do?
it is an engine off of a snowblower
Can I drill a hole in the crank shaft and thread it and put a bolt in to hold the clutch on?
yes it has a keyway to grab onto but thats it
and when i say hold it in place i mean keep it from sliding off of the clutch of the side. as of now it can slide back and forth on the crank shaft
there are no set screws on this clutch

I just built a go cart with a 6.5 hp engine. It’s for my 7 year old daughter, and it’s just a little too fast for me to turn her loose on it. Is there any way I can slow this down without changing the throttle cable or sprockets?
I know NASCAR uses restrictor plates … is there anything like this for my motor?
Here’s some useless information (maybe it’ll help). I’m using a motor from Harbor Freight Tools, and a 12T chain clutch from Northern Tool. The engine is one of those new cheap ones from China that’s a rip off of the Honda versions. I also have a 60T sprocket on the drive wheel.

I drive a 1995 Honda Civic 1.6L. When I press the clutch or brake the idle goes down and the cart rumbles and dies. So stopping is a pain. I was told there was a vacuum leak and it might be the power brake booster. We have replaced the booster, master cylindar, and brakes. The mechanic is trying to solve by "process of elimination" and it costing more each time. I dont want to spend 300 to fix the booster if it isnt the problem. Any ideas where this leak could be?

My new motor has a standard rpm of 1400, and my old clutch (wasn’t very good anyway) that was from a carter go cart engages even in choke. So where can i find a clutch that will work well with this engine. And yes i did adjust the idle speed

I am looking to make an ordinary golf cart go faster in any way possible. I know the centrifugal clutch limits the speed. Can someone please describe how to remove this and provide any other details as to how to make a golf cart go faster – with or without buying new parts.

I have a yerf dog go cart (model 3203) with a 6.5 hp tecumseh, and I cant seem to locate the correct drain plug. After reading other forums they say the drain plug is the box head screw in the back, or the allen head on the clutch side and on the opposite side. The reason im asking is because both allen heads are to tight and it seems they may be attached to the frame, the reason I cant unscrew the box head is because its in such a weird place and I cant reach it with pliers. Any help here will be used!! Thanks

alright! You guys convinced me to buy another clutch >< (i’ll slap you across the face later). Heres what i’m thinking will be an everyday occurance on this gocart.
1) High Speeds
2) Gas and brake alot
3) Sharp corners and steep hills
4) offroad jumps and mud
my back tire is right at 15 inches (16 or 17 with the trend)
the whole go cart with me weighs around 225 pounds
My engine is 196cc at 6.5hp
my gear ratio is 1:6 (10 on clutch 60 on axle)
my max RPM’s is 3600
would this clutch be suitable?

Also, I have burned out a cheaper clutch before in about 20 minutes on my go kart. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again? (I just learned you have to oil them, i think that was my problem)
Thanks for your advice!
Drew

We need the following clutch for our ez go golf cart, but they go for around 200 which is way beyond our budget. I’m wondering if there’s something compatible or a way to find one cheap. Thanks in advance for any help to those who know about this sort of thing.

To make it MOVE and MOVE only. For eg on a go-cart…
1- Engine
2-Gas
3-Air Filter
4-Drivetrain
5-Transmission and clutch
6-Steering
7-Wheels
8-Pedals
What else?

i have a custom go cart frame and i put a brigs and straton 5 hp engine on the back then for my rear axle i put a bar with bearings on each side of my frame and slid the bar through them. the i put a sprocket on the bar and welded it on (the sprocket has about 20 teeth so its kinda big) finally i put a size 41 chain on it from the engine to the sprocket. the engine is above the sprocket so the chain is going down. its about 16 or 17 inches away from each other (the cluthch on engine and the sprocket. but my problem is that it will barely move when someone gets in it but when i jack it up and turn on engine it spins fine any suggestions? (ps the chain is farely tight but not too tight
theirs about 11 teeth on top clutch
theirs about 11 teeth on top clutch
