First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a tin, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, our baby cots were covered with bright coloured lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking…

As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a van – loose – was always great fun.

We drank water from the garden hosepipe and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it, but we weren’t overweight because……

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms……….WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents .

We played with worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

Made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out any eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them!

Local teams had tryouts and not every one made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! Without counselling!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!

And YOU are one of them!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated our lives for our own good.

and while you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave their parents were.
Stephen Fry. Is your real name Fred Parkinson who lived next door but one to us, that was an expression his mother used to use, first up best dressed. A few thing’s not mentioned on the list that’s best kept quiet, don’t you agree.

Can I put a moto bike chain on my bmx bike ?

I have chains for go carts and mini bikes

Wheels for teenagers?

Ok so heres the deal…….Im a 13 year old girl (about to turn 14) and ive always wanted a Four Wheeler but my parents say im TOO young. So i started suggesting other things like Go Carts but they still say im too young. Well i started to think about a Golf Cart but i remembered that my friend has one and i dont want to copy her (Ive already got a rabbit, hamster, pool, ect. but she had it first). So i really need to know is what would be good for me that is safe for teenagers? What do you think about Electric Mopads? How much do Electric Mopads usally cost? I really need Help……
I need answers please…..Like NOW!!

I need help in planning to put chain drive for my project car that has 50hp and weighs about 2500 lbs?

I have this Electric converted Mazda Miata and it has a DC motor (FB1 4001A) with 50 hp max. It was connected through are Comet Torque Converter ( the same type of auto transmission used in go carts) with belt but its not efficient and I don’t need to idle cause the motor just stops.

I am thinking of putting chain drive in b/w the Motor shaft and the Shaft coming out of Differential ( the shaft are parallel to each other, motor is mounted on top of the differential) .

My concern is how strong of a chain and sprocket do i need (ratings, lbs of weights, etc) because I am not familiar with this chain drive stuff. I did find Grainger’s website with alot of choices on parts.

Thanks

Do you wanna know what it was like to be a kid in the 1930s thru 1970s?

Those Born 1930-1979
READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO. IF YOU DON’T READ ANYTHING ELSE—VERY WELL STATED

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930′s, 40′s, 50′s, 60′s and 70′s!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.

Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat.

WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.

We played…tag your it, Indians & Cowboys. The Indians always lost the battle. Snow ball fights….who could hit a moving car with a snow ball and run like heck without being caught.

No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We didn’t rush to the emergency room for a scrap on the knee, or bashing our heads into something that got in the way.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendos,
X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs, no surround-sound or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or chat rooms……..

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Kind of makes you want to run through the
house with scissors, doesn’t it?!

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

Has anyone ever heard of the shoe company named Euro? I am looking for a shoe with EURO on the shoe's tongue.

I was in Israel at this music festival where they had a go-cart track set up. I was wearing sandals and in order to use the go-carts I had to put on shoes that they were providing participants. I really liked the shoes I wore and have tried to find them online, but I have not been successful. They were an athletic type sneaker and I am hoping someone can send me a link to a site offering the shoes. On the tongue of the shoes it had the word EURO and I am assuming it was the companie’s name and not simply referencing that the shoes were made in Europe. Anyone have any insight?

Of note- I am not looking for Euros shoes but Euro (singular). I was able to find a shoe company called euros shoes but that is not the one I’m looking for.

What's with all of the Tampa Bay Lightning Bandwagon Fans?

I mean come on, they are everywhere! I was unlocking my car door to go to lunch, and this crazy bandwagon fan jumped out of a tree and in my face screaming, "Bolts for the CUP!” I am just kidding. Where’s MY BANDWAGON! I’m jealous. LMAO.

Question:

Say it’s game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals, & the two teams that are playing are ones that you are not very interested in. Your friend calls you & says he is making some strawberry shortcake for his kids, & invites you over for some. Then another friend calls you, & his cousin works at the go-cart track, & he & some people are going there after hours, & invites you to come. Then your cute in the face, yet chunky neighbor, knocks on your door. This neighbor explains they are lonesome, and ordered extra pizza in hopes of you joining them.

Do you watch the game, eat some yummy desert, go play with go-carts, or cute chubby "lonely" neighbor? Why?
Joe: You know I meant the Lightning bandwagon, right. I know you’d jump on the Homes train anyday, lol.
Billy Bong: Seeing that you hang out in the baseball section, and since you also answer questions in the wrestling section, I will assume that you have a hard time of differentiating what is true and what is not. HOCKEY DOES BETTER IN FLORIDA THAN BASEBALL! Imagine that.
Andrew: No friends? I figured you as a socialite.
Scott: Nice pun. :)
Chad: Coming from a guy that owns a LA Ice Dogs jersey, I’ll pretend that your opinion doesn’t count, lol. Yes, I have a GREAT memory sometimes.
IceMan: I figured you would watch the game.
Ryan: ……but she has a cute face, lol.
Pacmanist: Although I love some good Pacman, since you said Teemu Selanne is the greatest player in the NHL, I will laugh your comment off.
Heavysoviet: Yeah, I hate blowing people off. Makes me feel like a jerk.
Awesome Bill: That would be a trifecta in gambling terms.
Mike: I have always been a go-cart fan myself.
Ryan: I am a little feisty today. Yeah, yeah, he has set an old fart record, and a record that can’t be broken. Selanne is a good player, but freaking FAR from being the best player in the NHL…….maybe #13 on my list…..and definitely not a bum.
Paul Kariya is a good guy to have around during the playoffs, but no comparison.

Pacman: I guess the last time you checked was in 1995, LMAO!!! That was below the belt. I am sorry…..or maybe I’m not.
TDK: Ouellet didn’t get that memo that they are not making the playoffs. Lol.
Pacman: You might want to watch it. The bandwagon in Anaheim gets pretty full during playoff time. Maybe if it gets too full, you can “pick” another team, lol.

Restaurant for 16th b-day?

My 16th b-day is next month and i’m thinking of going out for lunch or dinner, i might invite 8 friends but I have no idea where an inexpensive but delicious restaurant i could go. Any ideas? I was also thinking of going to place where there’s mini golf, go carts etc. but does that see too childish? Please feel free to give me other ideas.

What will happen if this guy Sues?

Graham, a 22–year–old university student, decided to go go–cart racing with a few of his friends. The local track, called Speed Demons, provided rentals of high–powered go–carts capable of speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour. Speed Demons also had a restaurant and lounge. Before renting a go–cart, Graham drank four beers with his friends over lunch. When he paid his rental fee, Graham was presented with a “waiver of liability” form which he was told by the attendant to read and sign. Graham, who was swaying somewhat at the rental counter, did not read the form but signed his name. After his fourth erratic lap around the track, he lost control of the go–cart and suffered a serious neck injury.

To make matters worse, when his friends rushed over to assist him, they didn’t realize he had injured his spinal cord and pulled him roughly out of the go cart. As a result, Graham’s spinal cord was damaged and he has lost the use of his legs. Medical experts claim that if proper precautions had been taken by his rescuers, he would have preserved the use of his legs and his injuries would have been relatively minor.

…….I’m supposed to advise Graham of his rights and determine the probable outcome if Graham should bring legal actions against Speed Demons and the friends who removed him from the go cart.

My response is (so far):

Okay, that is Graham’s fault.I feel that he should have read the form.If he was to intoxicated he should have asked one of his friends to assist him. There is no way that Mrr.Graham could win this case.If the defendents use commen sense they would probaly present the DWI Law.Or some other type of evidence showing were the attendent informed him to read theform! I hope he had health insurance.
Since he signed a waiver at the go cart track reguardless of whether he read it or not, he cannot sue the go-cart track. His signature released them of any liability. However, he CAN sue his "rescuers" for not taking proper precautions when pulling him out of the go cart. I think that is considered some form of negligence…. not sure. But he can sue them because other people have in the past and have won.

I’m just missing length :( please help! thank you!

Precalc word problem help?

A manufacturer of go-carts finds that the cost in dollars, of producing x carts per month is 10x + 1400, and sets the selling price per unit at 110 – .01x
a) find the profit function P(x)
b) how many units should be sold for P(x) to be a maximum
c) what is the approximate maximum profit

I’ve done this problem twice now on my pre-calc test and I still cant get it right, any help?
shouldnt it be x(110-.01x)-(10x+1400)? so when you distrubute the x into the equation an x^2 comes in?

How could I tell off someone nicely?

I’m 13 and this guy who my friends and I thought was cool at first has been a backstabber. He talks behind every ones back and then goes up to them the next day, and pretends to be their friend. For example there was this kid in our class he had tons of nice things like go carts, game stations, etc but we liked him for him and not his things. But the person who is a "backstabber" goes to his house uses all of his stuff, and then comes to us and talks bad about him. So basically how can I tell him to go away nicely I don’t want to do it at school because I don’t want to get trouble if he cries or anything.

What are some fun activities in Orlando?

Something fun for 2 13 year old girls, a 15 year old boy, an 18 month old baby girl, and two 38 year old women (me(13), my friend(13), my brother(15), my mom(37), family friend (38), and her baby (18months). Something like Go-Carts or Mini Golf you can just waste a couple hours on. Please put the street address and how much it will cost. Preferably things on International Drive, but anwhere in Orlando is fine.
OTHER than Disney. WE are going to Disney some days but not all of them and want some cheap activties to waste time on in evening. Like go-carts and mini golf and such. Something Like that.

Old floppy disk game (cant remember the name)?

I used to play this game and i haven’t been able to remember the name of it for months and it’s bugging the crap out of me. You play as a guy and you go around and collect parts for go carts and helicopters to race your enemy. Also, throughout the game you are constantly solving puzzles to open new doors to explore. If anybody remembers the name of this game and where I might be able to get a download or something that would be awesome. Thanks!

sry i cant remember many details about the game cause I played it when I was like 6.

Question about obtaining go-carts….?

On the way to my friend’s house I pass this business that is for sale. I go by it almost every weekend. It used to be some sort of recreation center, then a place that sells towing trailers, now it is going to be a fireworks store. Anyway, behind the building, from the road, I can see a collapsed waterslide, and a go-cart track with two go-carts on it overgrown with weeds, trees, and bushes (The carts are impossible to see from the road now, but I can still see them in places). The go-carts clearly haven’t looked like they’ve been driven recently (paint faded, tires flat, etc). I would like to have them to fix up and ride around, but would like some insight on how to inquire about them (once the business opens, that is). Should I walk in the store and ask the person running the cash register about them, or…? I wouldn’t think that they would mind me asking. What would a fireworks store do with a couple of junky go-carts on a track impossible to drive on anyway?

what type of exotic living room would you build?

ok, if money was no object, what type of exotic living room would you build? I personally would build a living room with a go-cart track around the outside and race electric go-carts.

Name and where to buy of mini cars in parades?

In New Orleans parades for mardi gras and all over Louisiana as well. There are often small two to four seat cars that look like go-carts on steroids. They are often yellow or another bright color, and are smaller then a BMW Mini, the engine is often exposed in the rear and is about the size of a VW bug engine with similar exhaust. I am basically looking for who makes these vehicles to see if they are street legal and how much they cost.
Thanks in advance
