my husband and I were at our local Wal Mart. My 12 month old was seated with her seat belt on in the shopping cart…just like she has done hundreds of times. The next thing I know she is SCREAMING bloody murder. Somehow she had gotten her right foot, up past her ankle stuck between the bars right by where her legs are supposed to go. Long story short, we finally got someone to bring something to lube up her leg but she ended up with a swollen and bruised ankle. I am just wondering if anyone else had run into a situation like this and what can be done to make Wal Mart redesign their carts.
yeah, we have the metal ones with the bars. our target has plastic ones with a criss cross design which seems MUCH better

Graham, a 22–year–old university student, decided to go go–cart racing with a few of his friends. The local track, called Speed Demons, provided rentals of high–powered go–carts capable of speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour. Speed Demons also had a restaurant and lounge. Before renting a go–cart, Graham drank four beers with his friends over lunch. When he paid his rental fee, Graham was presented with a “waiver of liability” form which he was told by the attendant to read and sign. Graham, who was swaying somewhat at the rental counter, did not read the form but signed his name. After his fourth erratic lap around the track, he lost control of the go–cart and suffered a serious neck injury.

To make matters worse, when his friends rushed over to assist him, they didn’t realize he had injured his spinal cord and pulled him roughly out of the go cart. As a result, Graham’s spinal cord was damaged and he has lost the use of his legs. Medical experts claim that if proper precautions had been taken by his rescuers, he would have preserved the use of his legs and his injuries would have been relatively minor.

…….I’m supposed to advise Graham of his rights and determine the probable outcome if Graham should bring legal actions against Speed Demons and the friends who removed him from the go cart.

My response is (so far):

Okay,that is Graham’s fault.I feel that he should have read the form.If he was to intoxicated he should have asked one of his friends to assist him.There is no way that Mrr.Graham could win this case.If the defendents use commen sense they would probaly present the DWI Law.Or some other type of evidence showing were the attendent informed him to read theform! I hope he had health insurance.
Since he signed a waiver at the go cart track reguardless of whether he read it or not, he cannot sue the go-cart track. His signature released them of any liability. However, he CAN sue his "rescuers" for not taking proper precautions when pulling him out of the go cart. I think that is considered some form of negligence…. not sure. But he can sue them because other people have in the past and have won.

I played today with an 80 year old couple that held hands on almost every hole going down the fairway . [we walked it ] On the 10 th hole we saw the people finishing on 18 in their mini-atv carts .They were w/o legs ! One guy was one armed !! It just goes to show you where there is a will there is a way . I do not mean for this to be negative , it was a beautiful day yesterday .
oh yeah both of the 80 year olds could play !! as well as any 80 year old !!

I’m trying to learn how to do a cartwheel but I can’t get my legs to go straight up. Is there anything I can do to keep them from going lopsided?

What if a bolt, or screw was to go loose on a Fasttttttttttttt rolller coaster??..not those seated-cart ones, but the ones where your legs fly in the air.. Would that be the last day of your life??

My daughter just turned 2 in November and she misbehaves so badly! She makes me so mad but nothing I do seems to work!! She is extremely AD HD so talking to her about something she did or shouldn’t do is close to impossible. Her mind is already on something else by the time you can get her to look at you and listen to what you have to say. Then she has no idea what you are talking about! She is also extremely bright. She is Very advanced and can talk Very clear. Right now when she doses something wrong I raise my voice and then she knows that mommy is mad! When she troughs fits when are at home I try to ignore her but that has never worked and Always makes it much worse! It always ends up in her getting a spanking and sent to her room for time out. (I’m a big believer in spanking your kids!! Not beating your kids but spankings! I grew up with 2 sisters and we wore spanked regularly! I am also severely AD HD.I was diagnosed in Kindergarten. Now being an adult I can see how my mind works is different than people who don’t have AD HD! Spanking always worked! I turned out great and have a wonderful relationship with my parents and my sisters!). She dose not take anything i say seriously, noting seems to scare her into listening to me! When we are in public it is so bad! She will scream and yell like she is dyeing, flail her arms around and kick her legs! It embarrasses me so bad and makes me so mad! Its getting to the point where we aren’t being invited to play groups and my friends don’t want to hang out when I have to bring Sam! Don’t really know what to do! Her Father lets her do what ever she wants and that drives me absolutely crazy! When we all go grocery shopping he lets her go from being carried, sitting in the cart, standing in the back of the cart, walking, riding under the cart!! AAAHHHH I just want a well mannered child that listens and respects me! Any one knows how to get through to an AD HD child? What is the best way to discipline in public? Are we even allowed to swat our kids hands? My aunt got DEFAX called on her at Kroger for telling my cousin that she was going to leave her if she didn’t stop having a fit in the toy isle and allow my aunt to pick her up! She didn’t even lay a hand on her! She didn’t even threaten to hit her!! I can’t stand it when nosy people do that! What they fail to realize is that the kids that are being abused and mistreated are so quiet and shy that they are often time over looked! What can we do in public? What’s crossing the law where you are at risk of getting into trouble with DEFAX?

So today was my first day of work at a grocery store pushing carts and bagging groceries. I only got 3 hours of sleep. I should get 6-10. I couldn’t sleep due to the heat last night. It had everyone up in my house. I managed to fall asleep and then wake up three hours later.

Everything seemed to go fairly smoothly, and by 4 hours my legs began to hurt like a 2 hour hike kind of leg ache. Then once 5 hours hit, it started to hurt a lot more. By 7 hours I felt like crying, and the muscles in my legs actually felt like they were going to burst, and my toes felt like they were bleeding.

Do you think my legs got so weak so fast because of my lack of sleep? I mean, I’ve worked before, but today was also cheque day where I live in Canada, so the mass of people buying groceries and using carts blew my mind.

Was it just a LOT of work, or lack of sleep?

I don’t want to sound whiney, or lazy, because I don’t think this a bad job or anything.

Ive been in tumbling for about 5 months I can do my back handspring in the pit with a mat and my coach spotting me. But my cartwheels stink! Really badly, I try my best but my legs wont go straight! And my round offs arnt any better.

Where having a test and we have to do these basic things.
Forward role = can do
Backward role = can do
Cartwheels = no
Round off = no
Back hand spring = sure
Hand stand = yes

I keep trying to get my legs to go all the way to the top but it wont what are ways that i can improve.

Ive tried to think of a way to make the pedles but if it goes to fast, it would cut off our legs i could just make it electric but it would be harder i need a simple to build design that has brakes, steering, pedles or a engine, and it has to be big enough to fit atleast 4 people. lol i wanna go fast down a hill. (:

her left hip.She has to be helped to stand up all the time.She wants to go for long walks but cannot as her legs do not support her.She is overweight too.We are planning to use carts/wheels for her but are not sure as to how useful/helpful they will be to her.Can anyone who has used carts/wheels for their pets let us know the advantages of using them.
