I want to buy one of those shopping cart covers for my son. He’s too big to be in a car seat now and it’s uncomfy for him–he’d rather be out, sometimes it’s hard to wear a baby carrier while shopping, and if I bring a stroller I have nowhere to put stuff that I want to buy. I also want to use it in highchairs when we go out.

What shopping cart cover brand do you recommend? Did your child like it? Do you think it’s a useful item to buy?
Also, what age do they normally start using these? I am afraid he might be too small and may bounce all over the place. He’s almost 8 months and weighs about 18 lbs or so.

what is one thing you realized that you did not need after having baby, that you thought you needed.?

Like I really did not need a stroller. I always but the baby car seat in the shopping cart, and when my child was able to sit up I just sat her in the cart. I didn’t go walking, not that I didn’t exercise. I drove every where. so why did I really need it.

how much noise does a child need to make before you as the parent should apologize to nearby adults?

My baby was pretty quiet on her first airplane ride to visit relatives, except for about 30 seconds of crying as her ears popped. It was loud and in a contained space it sounded louder to me. I apologized to the guy next to us for all the noise when we landed and he acted surprised, and said the baby had behaved very well, seemed happy, so there was no need to apologize.

A bit later my daughter started learning to babble. I was grocery shopping at Costco and babbling back to her and saying mom stuff, like "who is my beautiful baby? ba ba ba!" and so forth. The kid was wide awake and in a really great mood, 6 months old, really smiley, laughing and answering "ba ba ba" back to me in her stroller. You know the stuff, and it’s new to her (our only child) so I was eating it up that she was imitating me. Anyway, a lady told me to try harder to keep the baby quiet because it was bothering her.

I’d say in terms of decibels we were being way quieter than we were on the plane, and Costco is a large, warehouse-style store with large open rows, where sound is absorbed readily. Also, on the plane she was clearly unhappy/in pain, which you’d think would bother people more, whereas in Costco she was making happy baby noises. They were not shrieks at all. It was cooing, laughing, and ba ba ba.

On the plane maybe people behave better toward infants because they know there’s nowhere to go anyway, so they may as well be polite? Or maybe people out grocery shopping tend to be in worse moods on average than people flying to Miami for the weekend? Anyway, what is an acceptable noise level for a baby before you cart them back to the car and try shopping again another day?

How do you go grocery shopping with your infant?

Today my husband and I went grocery shopping with our 3-month old for the first time. I brought her in her stroller and he pushed the cart.

I don’t know if people don’t normally bring their little babies to the market or if I just never noticed before (probably the latter), but how do people usually bring their little ones to the market? Mine isn’t old enough to sit up in the child seat of the cart. Do you just put the car seat in the cart? propped up in the child seat (is that safe?)? I guess I would put her in my ergo carrier or moby wrap if I had to go alone but I was wondering how everyone else did it.
i have a graco safeseat carseat. does anyone know if this snaps on to grocery carts safely? Thanks!! :)

moms with 2 or more kids, serious question but it sounds silly?

ok i am about to have my 2nd baby, and my daughter will be around 21 months when this one comes. we usually walk her around the grocery store if its me and my hubby (one to wrangle her up when she decides to run a muck, or we just sit her in the cart, depends where we are) but whats the easiest way to shop with 2 babies? i mean in wal mart im not going to want to be pushing a dual stroller and a shopping cart. i dont think it would be very easy holding my daugthers hand as i am pushing a cart. with the new baby, i will sit the car seat in the shopping cart (the front part) but where does my toddler go? this sounds soo silly, but im wondering, how do you shop with your babies??
wow, brainfart! i didnt even think of a sling!! THANK YOU!! YAY

Did you skip over the infant car seat and just get a convertible one?

I keep going back and fourth if I should just get a conv car seat rather than one of the infant carriers. My son was only in his carrier for five months before I got a convertible one. Part of me thinks it’s a waste but then I think of how convenient it was when we’d go anywhere to just plop the car seat into the stroller or shopping cart. I can’t make up my mind! If you skipped the infant carrier, are you glad you did?

14 month old is this normal?

im feeling overwhelmed and stressed about the things he is doing. He has done everything early very early..including walking at 7 months. He right now up to this point moves furniture..studies it and then moves it. Heavy chairs tables etc. figured out light socket safety covers studied them and then went to find other things that look similar and put them in the light socket..We had to buy ones that screw into the wall. climbs everything and if he can get up on it he will find a way..stacking books, toys, pillows etc. He gets very frustrated about things he cant do. Will be so relentless and determined..crying pitching a fit till he gets it. He will spend all day going back 2 it. It dont matter how much u play redirect, nothing. He is super social always been that way. He loves people and gets out in public and says hi to everyone and if they dont give him attention he will them start yelling hi leaning toward them. If they still dont he will get very upset and start trying to get out of the stroller or cart..He dont care about movies tv shows nothing. If tv catches his attention it is a adult program like priv. practice not a cartoon..I cant get him to sit for 5 sec other wise. However he loves books with animals or people in them. He can make noises of sheep, dog, cat, bear, etc. people he studies there faces and mimics there expressions and uses them in an approprate ways. He talks and uses short sentences like I want up..mama again again. and where u go? He does sign Lang. too.I went online looking up things and read books..not to many things that describe my son. The women i talk to say oh my son does all those things and more. Im not doing this for attention or to declare i have a genius..It is exhausting with him. I mean dont get me wrong he is a joy i am amazed by him daily at the stuff he does and says and how he analyzes and wow..I mean its a bitter sweet thing. However I work with people with Autism. So im not sure if im on high alert cause of that, he dont have traits of autism though. I no signs of delay not this..I mean is it okay if he is ahead or doing things like this..so active too? Some things he is right on cue with development..But so many things are advanced and different. I see all my friends with there kids and there kids at my sons age were similar but however SO different at the same time. I mean there is a clear difference with him around other kids his age. Can anyone shed any light? Or give me advice, or just to hear all he does is typical toddler would be great. If u have questions or need more feel free to ask.. Thanks

when is it ok for my son to sit in a shopping cart with out his car seat and sit in his stroller?

Ok so my son is going to be 8 months old this sunday… He can crawl, sit by himself and roll over by himself. He already needs a new car seat because his old one which was supposed to go up to a year he is too big for… the new one wont be able to fit into a shopping cart, isn’t made for it and isn’t made to sit in the stroller like the other one…

So is it time for him to move on and finally sit in the stroller and sit in the shopping cart?

Btw he just starting sitting by himself for about a week… and I mean he gets up by himself not that we put him like that and he is able to stay like that.

Thanks…
Thanks, I will probably buy one of those cart covers soon also.

3 mo old baby in car seat in shopping cart??

I have a 3 month old daughter that goes everywhere in her car seat. We’ve only been "shopping" to the Target where the carts are newer and our Graco actually snaps into the child’s seat perfectly. Is this ok to do this procedure for the regular carts too at grocery stores/walmart where the buggys child seat is smaller? Do we bring the stroller or what?

Does Ikea Have Shopping Carts?

I’m taking the long drive to our only local Ikea and I’ve never been before. On the commercial it showed Ingmar with one of those flat furniture mover carts and I’m wondering if they have regular shopping carts with the kid seats in the front. I’m taking my baby with me and I need to know if I’m going to be able to put him in the cart becuase I really don’t want to be pushing around a stroller and a big flat cart…

Thanks!!!

Are those electric riding carts that you find in stores difficult to steer?

I was just wondering because I was in a store with my baby in a stroller. As I was browsing at merchandise in an aisle, a man in one of those electric carts (that the store provides) rolled up extremely close to me. So I assumed that maybe he wanted to look at some of the merchandise that was in front of me. So I kindly moved down the aisle a bit to allow him access. Again, the man shoved his electric riding cart right close up against me nearly touching me with it. So I finally asked him if he needed assistance and he rudely stated that he wants to get passed me and my baby. As a result, I pushed the stroller aside to allow him to pass and go on his way. But what perplexed me was why he didn’t just go around me and the stroller when there was plenty of room to go around us in the aisle. Are those electric riding carts really difficult to steer? Your help in answering this question is greatly appreciated.
