I have the Graco snugride barrett, its not recalled (i checked) but these new walmart carts when i put my daughters carseat in the top, where it hooks into her head was so low and her poor feet up in the air she was getting a blood rush to her head, then i saw a mother with a different brand of seat and her child was upright, how you would imagine it to go. I feel as if my child were any older/heavier it would just tip back into the back of the cart? Whats going on? anyone else see this happen?
And i made sure she was connected in there correctly, its just how the new style cart was accepting my carseat? should i buy a new one, as this is maybe a sign that mine is outdated? *purchased in 2008*
I dont consider it a waste of money if it makes her safer, as i stated i saw a mother with a carseat that sat correctly, and like i said maybe it was a sign that my carseat is outdated/recalled, but i haven’t found information about it anywhere. I just returned a crib for it being recalled so now im being extra cautious. I have a 2 year old who takes up the room in the back, I suppose grocery shopping with the two of them is out of the picture now. bah.
that would be because car seats are not supposed to be attached to grocery carts…the fact that they occasionally fit on them is just coincedence….go to any car seat safety website…putting your child on the cart like that is a HUGE safety risk.
I had that problem with Walmart cart’s as well. Sadly I never found a solution, I just put the whole carrier in the basket and propped my purse under it so it didn’t rock.
I wouldn’t buy a new one just because of shopping carts. It may be inconvenient but your child will grow so fast that you will not use the seat for much longer. Every store is different. My carseat and shopping cart cover never fit in Target’s carts and I bought them both there. I would just find a secure way to put the seat in. At Target I would always turn my car seat long ways/side ways rather than facing me.
Would you seriously consider buying a new car seat just bc it doesn’t fit in a Walmart cart? That seems like a huge waste of money. Just set her seat in the basket of the cart, it is safer anyway.
EDIT: If saftey is you concern, it is best to put baby in the basket and your toddler in the seat of the cart. That is the safest way for both to ride. Infant seats, even if the seem to fit over the cart seat can be unstable or cause the cart to tip over.
It depends on carts, my graco car seat sat like that in the walmart carts.
If it was bought in 2008 it’s not outdated, there is an expiration date on the seat. I think they are good for 5 years.
And I wouldn’t buy a new carseat. Just put your baby in the basket part of the cart and your toddler in the front.
The walmart I go to still has a few of the older carts so I search for one of those when i go. I can always find one. Maybe your Walmart still has a few older carts??
