Maybe I’m stupid, but why would you to an Indian village if you don’t want an Indian museum. That’s because all there is there is an Indian casino (Harrah’s Cherokee), cheesy Indian shops, and an Indian museum. Sorry, but no amusement parks.

If you are in Cherokee Village, North Carolina do not forget to visit Santa’s Land for your kids. If you want to try something out of this world also then try to fly with Cherokee Helicopters and see the beauty of the wonderful area from above.

Stop at McDonald’s in Cherokee Village and get meals for everyone. Then after leaving Cherokee Village enter the Park and drive up into the mountains and stop & park at the Gap lookout point and enjoy eating McDonald’s lunch looking down at the beautiful scenic views. (Be careful not to pass up the point where you turn into the lookout point). It’s a great spot for photos. The Appalacian Trail crosses here as well and the teens can walk a brief way to check out what it would be like to hike the Trail, which runs across several states. This suggestion is only if you are coming from the East into Cherokee Village before going thru the mountains.

There is a place in Cherokee Village where you can take the kids to see a life size model Cherokee village
and walk around and look in each building to get a glimpse into what village life was like for the Cherokees years ago. It is quite informative and something the kids will remember. But if the kids are not into this, then I suggest Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge for excitement.
