I agree with the other answerers – make sure there is actually a local track where she can race. Our local track’s lowest class is the kid-kart restricted (for 5 year olds just starting out) and then they go unrestricted after that. The thing that I don’t like about it is that there are only about 6 kids in both of those classes, so there’s not a ton of competition. It seems like it’s not very organized for the kids – they just run the kids classes so the adult drivers’ kids can drive too.

My kids race quarter midgets, which is ONLY for kids 5-15 and I think it is a lot safer. Find a local track near you at http://www.quartermidgets.org

Before buying a kart you should go out to your local kart tracks and find out what classes they have for kids that age. If you buy the kart first there may be no class to race it in.

While you are at the track you can find the types of karts the others are running and even find a good one that the child racing it is moving up a class and selling.

she could start out in a comer 50 in the kid kart class (if your local track has the class)or you could look up an easykart 50.kids kart class is from 5-8 years old.junior kart class is from 8-12.

Riding in a kart someone else is driving is a whole lot different than racing one yourself. The first step is to find a place to race. No sense in buying a kart when there is nowhere near you to race it. Go to the track and see what classes they run. You can usually find someone selling a kart pretty cheap.
