I live in Iowa and I wish to take a Metro XFi engine and transmission and put it into a tubular steel frame and make it a rear wheel drive ‘sand-rail’ I guess you’d call it. I’m wondering if this would be legal if I put in headlights, brakelights, and turn signals and then registered it (with who and as what?).
In a word, I would say no.
The home made frame would have no VIN number and it wouldnt meet design rules.
You can make one, by all means, but you couldnt put it on the road, unless you have bucketloads of money to invest into it and professional designers to help you with the safety aspects of the car.
it would look cool and be awesome to drive. If you have the parts and skills, why not build it and run it around race tracks?
frame to small
I don’t know about the legalities, but I bet that damn thing would move.. <:O
who cares just do it and good luck
