I think you would have to take in to consideration where you are living and the style of course, and the type of terrain of the golf course and surrounding area. Many courses where there are a lot of hills, steep climbs, and rugged paths gas carts are the best, and are often used because they have more power to maneuver throughout these things better than electric.
Yes, they do cost a little more, since they run on gas. But I have an electric cart and you still spend money on it cleaning the batteries, the charger, and buying new ones when they die out. Electric carts are more smooth, and enjoyable to ride in.
Personally, I like gas carts because they are more fun to drive.
Electric is the way to go, most likely. It’s quieter (so you won’t have to worry about disturbing others as you use it to get around) and cheaper to operate.
If you’re in an area of the country that gets cold, ask around about winterization tips for them though. They can be tempermental to get going again if you leave them in extreme cold without running them for months at a time.
First of all, you may want to check with the course to see if they have any off-course cart regulations. Sometimes there is a waiting list. They do this so the pro shop can keep up revenue through rentals. Anyway, go with an electric, less mess, less upkeep (gas and oil), less noise.
electric. gas carts smell.
electric, they dont pollute and you dont have to pay money for gas
Electric, because they are much quieter and smoother to operate.
To say that electric carts don’t pollute is a fallacy. First, they are made mostly of plastics and carbon fiber, so they create a lot of pollution just in the manufacturing process. Since they are electric, they have to be recharged, which means that they need to be plugged in, which means that they are connected to the grid, which is largely powered by coal burning power plants. If you want transportation, you’re going to create pollution, it’s just a matter of where the pollution is made and left behind.
